Skin Nutrients

Many people treat skin problems by using typical expensive, beauty, or chemical cosmetics; lotion, scrubs and etc. However, treating outer or upper layer doesn’t do much to treat the root of problems such as bad nutrition, dietary, and lifestyle routine.

Most people find it hard to keep your diet on the right track every meal they consume everyday, including me. That’s how I started the a habit of taking supplements which replaced the nutrients I’ve lost.

So. This entry will be all about
Dietary Supplements for beautiful skin

Please note that I’ll only concentrate on the benefits of supplements to our SKIN. I wrote a review below as a regular user so the outcome might be different for some of you.

Advice #1: Seek professional doctor’s advice if you know nothing about pills.
Advice #2: Know your body limit before taking too much any of these.

WHAT TYPE OF SUPPLEMENTS I HAVE TAKEN?

1. OMEGA-3 Fatty-Acid

This was the very first supplement I took until now. Helps with blackheads or whiteheads (Acne) with Fatty Acid, “EFA” which the body can not produce on its own but only through diet. It strangely helps me in gaining my appetite too. I take this DAILY.

2. EVENING PRIMROSE OILSofter Skin

also contains EFA. However, after taking it for a month, I find my skin amazingly softer. I take one capsule every night ONE HOUR before I sleep (To avoid waking up to go to toilet in the middle of the night). My friend who takes this daily, she has the same review as I do.

3. VITAMIN CLighten Skin, Anti Aging

I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables daily which are rich in vitamin C. I usually take 1-2 tablets if I have any alcoholic drinks on a particular day. If you are more a meat lover and dislike eating vegetables and fruits, then I think you may need to take it daily. Vitamin C helps to brighten your skin, makes it look more radiant and slows the aging of skin cell. It may also reduce sunburn.

* However, too much of Vitamin C also can caused Kidney stones, diarrhea and nausea so make sure you know the suitable dosage for your body.

4. VITAMIN BAcne Problems

Can be found in banana, meat, oatmeal and rice. I took this only when I’m in a stressful period, with deadlines or overload of work. It helps you with stress which may lead you to have acne problems, doesn’t treat acne directly.

5. VITAMIN E - Anti Aging

Can be found in olive oil, green leafy vegetables, and nuts. It helps to restore the moisture in your skin and slows the aging of skin cells. Also protecting our skin from UV light, pollution and other elements that damages skin cells. It’s better to know how to take care of your skin when we are still young. We ladies would love to stay young forever don’t we?

WHAT BRAND SHOULD YOU BUY?

So far I’ve tried different brands such as Blackmores, Fancl, Nutrilite, Aimstar, GNC, Brands, Ocean Health, and etc. To be very honest, I think it’s hard to do the comparison for these brands on quality unless you’ve tried it yourself. If you insist, my preference now is:

FANCL – Pack in Aluminum Zip-lock bag, easy to carry around. Small capsules, easier to consume but have to take many pills a day. I’ve tried their Vitamin C, Vitamin E Natural Mix and DHA. I’ve also tried IRON for Woman from GNC and I like it. Smell alright compared to many brands (Big tablets, take only 1 a day)

As requested from my readers, I hope this entry helps you to find the right type of supplement to take if you think you need one. I’m very open for recommendations on any brands and/or other benefiting supplements you have tried before so please feel free to leave your comments here.

Having beautiful skin starts from the inside, these dietary supplements could benefit you. However, it’s best to have discipline on your diet and it’s the most healthy way to treat you skin.

Love. – nira

I think taking care of your skin is one of the most important things you can do to feel good about yourself and most of all, feel healthy and beautiful! I take a lot of these vitamins as well because it’s so hard to always eat right! But I only thought Evening Primrose Oil was for women during menopause! I didn’t know its other benefits until I did a little research after reading your post! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Nira, i have a lot of questions for you. Hehe Cause im currently taking lotsa supplements for my skin too. The most concern issue will be my acne skin, in fact i dont really have acnes but lotsa whiteheads and blackheads. As you mentioned, Vitamin B helps Acne and Omega 3 Fatty Acid helps blackheads and whiteheads? Hmmm, I’m a bit confused, cause i thought acne & blackheads whiteheads are treated the same way. I’m currently taking Vit A, Vit C, Zinc, Selenium ACE, and Gluthathione to treat my skin problem. I really didnt know that Vit B helps acne cause i thought Vit A should be the one treating acne..

And i love this post so so so so much! Exactly what i’ve been waiting for! Thank you! =’)

Very large doses of V’A can be used to treat severe acne but they are very toxic to the body. V’B helps to reduce stress which may cause acne, doesn’t treat acne directly. Omega 3 reduce inflammation to fight Acne. If your problem is more severe, I advice you to get stronger prescription treatments from a doctor. Best, is to cure them naturally, drink more water, orange/lemon juice, Aloe Vera, DAILY and watch your DIET. Hope it helps.

Hi Nira, very informative post you have there! I would like to ask do you consume all these various supplements all at the same time at one go or at different time intervals? Does it make any difference between those two?

    • nirachan nirachan says:

I take them at different times. It’s best not to take them at the same time as the different types of supplements may bind with each other and prevents your body from absorbing either one. Also, consume them after meals with plenty of water.
